Parent, Wohl New Partners | Leadership Changes Announced at DRM
(St.Johnsbury) Attorneys Elizabeth R. Wohl of the Brattleboro Office and Mary K. Parent of the St. Johnsbury Office have been elected as directors and owners of the northern New England law firm Downs Rachlin Martin PLLC. As well, DRM Directors John H. Marshall of St. Johnsbury and Elizabeth K. Rattigan of the Lebanon Office have assumed new leadership roles at the firm. The election of the new members took place at the firm’s annual meeting in December.
“Elizabeth and Mary are among our brightest stars, both in their legal work, their leadership within the firm and in their community involvement,” said DRM Managing Partner Paul H. Ode, Jr. “I am delighted that they, along with John and Beth, will play new and important roles in the decisions we make as a firm.”
Marshall will chair DRM’s Regulated Entities Group, which includes the Environmental Law, Energy and Telecommunications, Government and Public Affairs and Health Law groups. He is a well-known utility lawyer who has been with the firm for many years and is a former managing partner.
Rattigan will chair the firm’s Labor and Employment Law Group. She practices employment and labor law from the Lebanon Office and joined the firm in 2012 after many years in employment law and commercial litigation for another firm Upper Valley firm. In their new roles as chair, both Marshall and Rattigan will be responsible for the strategic direction of their respective practice groups to support the firm’s overall objectives, as well as developing their individual practices.
Mary Parent represents business clients in corporate and commercial transactions, business formation and operation, private equity transactions, commercial real estate transactions, commercial financing and mergers and acquisitions in both Vermont and New Hampshire. As well, she has worked with local, regional and national private equity firms and technology companies in investment transactions, including stock and convertible debt transactions. She regularly helps clients to form Vermont and New Hampshire corporations and limited liability companies. She has formed non-profit entities and assisted clients in obtaining 501(c)(3) status from the Internal Revenue Service.
Parent is the immediate past president of the St. Johnsbury Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Northeast Kingdom Young Professionals Group. She is a member of the Union Bank St. Johnsbury Regional Advisory Board and treasurer of the Caledonia County Bar Association. Parent previously co-chaired the St. Johnsbury chapter of the Women Business Owners Network, a state-wide organization that promotes networking and education among women business owners. She also served previously on the board of directors of Catamount Film & Arts, a regional non-profit arts organization.
An experienced litigator, Elizabeth Wohl represents and advises hospitals, nursing homes, home health and hospice and other health care providers in licensing, compliance, malpractice, employment and fraud and abuse matters. She has successfully handled complex informal dispute resolutions for skilled nursing facilities, provided comprehensive advice regarding Certificate of Need applications and represented health care organizations in responding to inquiries from disability rights advocates.
Wohl is active in the American Health Lawyers Association and the Windham County Bar Association where she coordinates the Windham County Legal Assistance Project.
