Labor & Employment Law | NLRB Proposes Controversial Changes
NLRB tries again to change union election rules.
The National Labor Relations Board (“NLRB”) has once again introduced a set of controversial proposed regulations that are designed to speed up the union election process. These regulations are concerning to employers for many reasons. Most significantly, these so-called “quickie” or “ambush” elections typically favor unions. This is because unions are often able to campaign for months surreptitiously without the employer’s knowledge which allows the union to have a head start on the campaign. Once the petition is filed, the employer is left to catch up.
