Update on Vermont employment legislation.

Two pieces of legislation impacting Vermont employers are competing for legislative approval as the session wears on, and most agree that the success of one bill means the death of the other.

The bills separately seek to increase the state minimum wage and to require employers to provide paid sick leave for employees.

While efforts to pass the paid sick leave bill spent several months in the public eye, supporters recently shifted their focus towards increasing the minimum wage, leaving many to speculate that the paid sick leave bill will remain in committee until the end of the session.
